New Patients / F.A.Q.s

Do you accept insurance?

Many insurance plans provide coverage for acupuncture treatments. Call your provider to determine your benefits. While payment is due at time of service, as a courtesy, we are happy to file your claim for reimbursement. We do not guarantee insurance coverage/reimbursement. We accept cash, checks, and most major credit cards.

How many treatments will I need?

Some serious, chronic conditions may require long-term treatment while other less severe ailments may respond extremely quickly. In general, the longer a condition has been developing and the more severe it is, the more treatments are required.

A single course of acupuncture is typically between 8-10 treatments for mild to moderate concerns.
For N.A.E.T. allergy elimination treatments, the first course of treatment usually consists of about 15 sessions. However, every individual’s needs are different. For a better idea of how many treatments will be necessary to reach your health goals, please contact us to schedule a free consultation.

Does acupuncture hurt?

No! Acupuncture is deeply relaxing. Many patients actually drift to sleep during their treatments. This can be hard to believe for the uninitiated, but because the needles are SO tiny (about the size of just a few human hairs), solid and microscopically rounded at the tip, there is NO discomfort or pain at all. Schedule an appointment or free consultation and see for yourself!

Does acupuncture and N.A.E.T. really work?

Yes! There is a growing body of modern clinical research validating what the Chinese have known for nearly 2,000 years; acupuncture works! Click here to read patient testimonials.

How long does a session last?

The first session will last 1 - 1.5 hours. You will need to arrive early in order to complete necessary
paperwork. Subsequent sessions last about 45 min - 1 hour.

What should I do to prepare for my treatment(s)?

Avoid caffeine and alcohol for at least 3 hours prior to treatment and make sure you've had something to eat. Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes and if possible, try to avoid scheduling any strenuous activity immediately following your treatment. Give your self time to rest and integrate the session before exercising or going to work etc.. Be prepared to follow dietary guidelines in accordance with N.A.E.T. treatments for 24 hours after your session.

Is it safe to take herbs and supplements if I take prescription medicine(s)?

Your acupuncturist will only prescribe herbs that are safe to take with your other medications. Certain drugs and health conditions may be contraindicated with herbal medicine. Most herbal medicines and supplements should be taken several hours apart from prescription drugs. Check with your health care provider if you have any questions. Always make sure that your medical charts have an accurate and complete list of all medicines/supplements that you are taking.
